Top Five Oil Giants Attend US Hearing

The US House of Representatives held a hearing on crude oil leaks on the 15th. Five global oil giants, including BP, came to the "call". Although these giants in the industry are trying their best to clear themselves, they have been turned around for nearly 20 years. The U.S. Energy and Commerce Commission believes that, like BP, the other four companies are not prepared to respond to the oil spill.

Exxon Mobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Anglo-Dutch Shell and BP have submitted their respective contingency plans to the Commission a few days ago, with texts of more than 500 pages. However, the plans for the five companies were actually written by a company called "Response Group." The contents are basically the same.

At the hearing, ExxonMobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, and Anglo-Hsing Shell all stressed the importance of safety in their homes. They accused BP of failing to comply with industry standards to cause oil spills and attend the hearing. Lamar McKay, president of BP North America, was deeply "isolated." An oil industry source believes that the reason for this is quite simple: these giants do not want to suffer because of the “mistakes” made by BP.

However, these giants “dissolve themselves” in the form of selling their melons, and it seems that the American Congressman’s “take the lead”. Their crude oil spill contingency plans were criticized as "on paper", "outdated content", and "not of practical use."

Edward Mackie, chairman of the Energy and Environment Subcommittee, criticized the oil giants for talking about how to protect the walrus in the plan. In fact, the Gulf of Mexico has never found a walrus. In addition, in the plans of the top five companies, an expert who died in 2005 and his telephone number have emerged on the list of available experts. Congressman Bart Stupak criticized major oil companies for focusing on the media instead of wildlife protection. He said: "The Exxon Mobil Corporation's media plan is four times longer than the Wildlife Conservation Plan. Based on this fact, the company seems to care more about the media than wildlife protection."

Nearly 20 members took turns and the giants faced more ugly faces. But they did not think that there was something even more embarrassing for them. Due to the tight seats on the day of the hearing, dozens of protestors were rejected. At the end of the hearing, a protester held a bottle filled with black liquid and successfully came to the giants. "You are as corrupt as BP. You should all be ashamed!" the protester shouted.
